The dream of working for a professional sports team is one that many have, but few achieve. Unfortunately, for minorities, that dream is even more difficult to accomplish. That is why the NFL has parterned with two Historically Black College and Universities (HBCU) athletic conferences to create more opportunties for minority students and working professionals to break into the sports industry.
The goal is to provide qualified individuals with the job preparation and skills training needed to gain employment in professional football administration. The NFL's misison is two-fold: enhance their employee pipeline and improve their record for diversity and inclusion. This partnership is timely with the recent conversations surrounding Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI) in the workplace and specifically in philanthropy. The NFL is moving away from lip service and taking concrete action to grant minority populations equal access and opportunity.
