Joel Katz joined the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation in 2010 after graduating from the University of California Santa Barbara. Beginning as an AmeriCorps VISTA, Joel led the creation of the Grizzlies TEAM Mentor program, an innovative model that matches three volunteer mentors with six students to form a TEAM; each TEAM functions as a micro-community with its own identity, culture, values and voice. Now in his 9th season in the NBA, Joel has developed a city-wide platform called GrizzFit, which leverages the coaching relationship to develop physical literacy and drive student success. GrizzFit is a portfolio of Sports-Based Youth Development programming designed to bridge the gap between coach training and student outcomes. The initiative is presented by NIKE, and Joel has been instrumental in developing that partnership. Today he serves as Sr. Manager of Youth Sports Partnerships. Merging a love for sport, community, and social-impact, Joel is empowered to harness the power of sport to transform lives. He additionally serves on the Board of Directors for Grizzlies Preparatory Charter School and Project Backboard, and is a guest lecturer at the University of Memphis’ Fogelman School of Business.

GAME ON! sports 4 girls
Elyssa graduated from the University of Vermont in 2012 with a bachelor’s in Business Administration-Marketing and minor in Political Science. Throughout college, she believed she wanted to be a financial advisor, but in the summer of her senior year, she realized she wasn’t ready to give up sports. So, she switched her concentration and started networking in the professional sports world.
After graduating, she landed her first job with the Reno Bighorns (now Stockton Kings) as an Account Executive selling season tickets and sponsorships. After two seasons with the Bighorns, she was ready to move back to the east coast and started working in inside sales with the Philadelphia 76ers. She trusted the process and worked her way up from Sales Associate to Group Sales Associate to Manager of Partnership Activation. She loved her time there working to help businesses receive their full potential with their partnerships with the 76ers, but something was missing.
In April of 2018, she was ready to make a change and wanted to make a difference in the world utilizing the power of sports. She was hired, in her current role, as Director of Business Development for all of Illinois for Game On! Sports 4 Girls.
Game On! is an all-girl, multi-sport program that harnesses the power of sports and fitness to build confident, strong girls who grow into valued teammates and high achievers. The multi-sport summer day camps and school year programs just for girls create an experience designed to empower, while encouraging fun play and learning. She helps girls build their confidence and find their inner voice telling them they can do anything and are GIRLSTRONG!
