As the NFL celebrates its 100th season this year, the league is inviting its fans, players and employees to partner with it and its Huddle for 100 initiative. The program’s aim is to inspire one million people to donate 100 minutes of their time to a cause of their choice to shape what they want their community to look like for the next 100 years. In support of Huddle for 100, NFL teams and sponsors have partnered with nonprofit organizations to show what they want for their communities.
The New England Patriots and the Massachusetts Military Support Foundation teamed up to donate 15,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to military children in Massachusetts, showing their support for both men and women in uniform as well as their investment in the future through children. Lowe’s, an official sponsor of the NFL, worked alongside 300+ volunteers to help refurbish Douglas Park in Nashville, donate gardening equipment and provide supplies to support Huddle events during Enshrinement Week at the Hall of Fame. The Los Angeles Rams’ players, cheerleaders and staff worked with Habitat for Humanity to improve houses in the Los Angeles and Ventura counties severely impacted by last November’s wildfires and assisted elderly and fixed income families with critical needs to repair their homes.
Why We Like It:
The NFL’s Huddle for 100 encourages generations of fans, players, coaches and its 32 teams to serve the communities that have helped sustain the league for 100 years. The league calls all to leave a lasting impact on their communities to facilitate a healthy, hopeful future. To inspire support, the NFL is also giving participating fans the chance to win prizes when they track their participation on the Huddle for 100 website. To spread the word further, the league is also utilizing social media by encouraging fans to share their volunteer efforts using hashtags #NFLHuddleFor100 and #Sweepstakes.
